I have a tissue box (rectangular prism) with width: 19.5 cm; Height: 12.5 cm; Length: 39 cm. what would be the dimensions of the opening of the box, which is rectangular shaped?

I saw the same question a month ago that no one answered on this website and ive been trying to figure it out and cant.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, the problem I'm having is that you could theoretically have any dimensions for the opening.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I agree with Orange master, I would think that the dimensions of the rectangular prism would be it's volume which is ,V=9506.25. But dimensions could have another mathematical term use for this informational text.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i did calculate that as the volume, let me try to send the diagram given

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hm,ok but remember there are more than one use of "dimensions" in Math. Try to use the advice wisely.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

here is the problem

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, because they want the opening to be similar, we need to form a proportion. \[\frac{ 19.5 }{ 39 }=\frac{ 6 }{ 12 }\]Since the proportion is equal, that means the answer is A.

oh ok thank you very much and i was stuck on it forever!

No problem, your welcome.
