6x+y=17
what would you like to do?
slove the system by the method of your choice. 6x+y=17 x+3y=0
any ideas on how to begin?
no :(
Can you solve your second eq for x?
subsitution i think would be the easiest
I would set them both equal to y. 6x+y=17 6x-6x+y=17-6x y=-6x+17 x-x+3y=0-x 3y=-x 3y/3=-x/3 y=(-1/3)x Then set them equal to each other. (-1/3)x=-6x+17 (-1/3)x+6x=17 17/3x=17 17/3*3x=17*3 17x=51 17x/17=51/17 x=3
Then plug x into one of the original equations to find y.
yea what he said lol
She :) Lol but thanks!
lol is there a easier way.
Much easier if you would answer me
oh sorry :o @girlnotonfire
can you solve the second eq for x?
i guess :/
please do
what do i do?
im clueless uuugggh lol
solve: x+3y=0 for x
get x by itself
x + 3(0)= 0 x=0
no, why did you put a zero in for the y?
idk
ok, can you please watch this set of videos for me so that you are able to understand the problem? https://www.khanacademy.org/math/cc-sixth-grade-math/cc-6th-expressions-and-variables/cc-6th-beginner-equations/v/simple-equations
