Determine an equation using a transformation of y = sinx that models water depth at the Bay of Fundy. Can someone help me on how to upload a photo here please?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I figured it out :D

OpenStudy (dan815):

4 to 36 its osccilating, can you tell me what the period is

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I believe that the amplitude is 36-4/2 = 16, Period = 36 and 1/4 wave = 36/4 = 9

OpenStudy (dan815):

oh nvm

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Am I correct @dan815 ?

OpenStudy (dan815):

the period is only 12, period is the time for just 1 cycle, or 1 pattern

OpenStudy (dan815):

now you have to also consider the shift and determine if its a sin or cos

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I believe its sin because it doesn't have curves like cos @dan815

OpenStudy (dan815):

remember that sin starts from 0 but this seems to be starting from the most negative point possible kind of like a -cos graph

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hmm..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

When you put it that way, would it be cos?

OpenStudy (dan815):

now u still need it in sin so u must do a phase shift

OpenStudy (dan815):

to account for that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can you help me on how I would do that?
