How do I turn -0.9 into a fraction?

OpenStudy (marissalovescats):

Well if you notice, the 9 is in the tenths place. So it would be -9/10

OpenStudy (marissalovescats):

So if we had 0.008 it would be 8/1000 because 8 is in the thousandths place.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So 3.03 would be.... 3 3/10? @marissalovescats Also would 3 be 3/1

@jim_thompson5910 @marissalovescats

OpenStudy (marissalovescats):

3 and 3/10 would be 3.3

OpenStudy (marissalovescats):

Notice that the 3 in 3.03 is in the 100ths place so it would be 3 and 3/100. A way to check if you are right is turning it back into an improper fraction and typing it into a calculator to see if you get your decimal.

OpenStudy (marissalovescats):

Yes 3/1 is 3. Don't forget fractions are just division. And 3 divided by 1 is 3.

Thanks, I get it now. :)
