Which two options could be the next step in simplifying this expression? 15 + (5 + 21) A. 15 + 26 (use order of operations) B. 20 + 36 (use the distributive property) C. 36 + 20 (use the commutative property) D. 20 + 21 (use the associative property)

A and D?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well...It would go I think like this. :) 21+5=26 Then I would bring 26 down... 15+26 and so the answer to the equations would be.... 41! Though that's not what where looking for... It would be A, because that's the only one that matches what I just did. :) I don't know what the second option would be. Non of the answer choices math.

Is there anymore answer choices or anything else to the equation?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no this is it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

D also equals 41

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Boy do I feel stupid, I didn't even think to solve the other answer choices. :) LOL.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So yeah, it should be A and D.

Thank you
