2(x+5)= -2

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

1) divide both sides by 2 2) subtract 5 from both sides

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-6 is the answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2(x+5)=-2 2x+10=-2 2x=-12 x=-6

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

you don't need to expand...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-6 is your answer :)

OpenStudy (amistre64):

expanding is fine, it gets you to an answer :) my thought would have been: 2, times what is equal to -2? 2(-1) ... therefore x+5 = -1 has to be true

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

Yeah... logic is also good.
