Maybe you need to know that the exterior angles are 45 degrees?
if so then you can find angle b by taking 180-45=135 and then find angle a by taking 180-b=45
\(a=\frac{360}{8} =45^{o}\)

I like @JungHyunRan's way better since you don't have to have any previous knowledge.
\(b=2\times \frac{180^{o}-45^{o}}{2} =180^{o} - 45^{o}=135^{o}\)
