What are two ways in which scientists transform plant cells without using plasmids?

Plant cells can also be transformed without removing the cell wall. DNA that codes for a gene of interest can be inserted within a length of DNA that also has coding for transposon activity. The DNA is then attached to ultra-fine particles of gold, which are "fired" into the plant cells using a pneumatic gun.
