What is anthropomorphic imagery? In your opinion, what are two possible purposes for this type of art?

This type of art is really interesting. You have the odd balls who wear the "fur suits" and then you have the drawings and such. This dates back of course to Egypt, if you look at quite a few of their Gods, they have both animal and human parts. I think after hearing the stories of Werewolves and mermaids that the idea of having some qualities of a animal would be pretty cool. Whether it be the odd artists on the Internet who have things called "fursonas" It's like a persona (aka anthros of themselves) or y'know just a girl who wants cat ears and tail. It's an interesting subject..
