How do you find the distance between a point and a line in a circle?

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

you can use a formula for the perpendicular distance form a line to a point if the line is in the form Ax + By + C and the point \[(x_{1}, y_{1})\] then the distance is \[d = \frac{\left| Ax_{1} + By_{1} + C \right|}{\sqrt{A^2 + B^2}}\] hope it helps
