Exam help please! The graph of f(x) = 2x + 4 shifts five units to the right when it is replaced with the graph of f(x) = 2x - k. What is the value of k? -5 -1 1 5

zepdrix (zepdrix):

Oh neat problem :O So like... To shift 5 units to the right, we would subtract 5 from our x,\[\Large\rm f(x)=2x+4\]\[\Large\rm shifted~f(x)=2(x-5)+4\]

zepdrix (zepdrix):

Distribute the 2 to each term in the brackets, then simplify, the k should jump out at you! :O

zepdrix (zepdrix):

Hmm it should be -6.. that's not one of the options though <.<
