A bag contains 6 red marbles, 18 purple marbles, 2 green marbles, and 4 black marbles. What is the probability of drawing a black marble out of the bag? A.2/15 B.1/30 C.1/4 D.1/3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i would say A

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay so first add all the marbles in total

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so its 30 in total; and they're asking for black marbles

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so black marbles is 4, and toal is 30. so you have 4 out 30 chances of getting a black marble.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but youd have to cut it in half

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4 : 30... now reduce.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

right?^^^ since that isnt a choice

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i know you have to reduce it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then divide both of them by 2 or you can just cut it in half by looking at it. so now it's 2 : 15.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's your answer! A!!! 2 : 15!
