A sign in a clothing store said, "All prices reduced twenty-five percent. Final prices marked on tags." DeLea found a sweatshirt that showed a price of twenty-seven dollars. What was the original price of the sweatshirt? twenty-seven dollars and twenty-five cents thirty-three dollars and seventy-five cents thirty-six dollars fifty-two dollars

OpenStudy (ciarán95):

If the sweatshirt was reduced by 25%, then the price on the tag will be 75% of the original. So, 75% of the original price = $27. This means that 1% of the original price is $27/75, or $0.36. And from this 100% of the original price will be $0.36 x 100 = $36
