What effects did Marco Polos accomplishments have on the people of Asia and Europe?

Marco Polo was a merchant from Venice. He was told to sail around to find more places to trade with. He became friends with the leader of the Mongolian Leader (at the time Kublai Khan) and was able to trade with (at the time) one of the largest and most powerful empires. His accomplishments would include:
....Making Europe and Asia more friendlier (relationship wise)
....Creating maps of empire's that had closed borders to a large amount of empire's including China and Mongolia
....Finding new routes to area to sell merchandise
....Creating new trade routes to help Venice flourish
