Remember what it means for triangles to be similar, that means the sides have equal ratios,\[\frac{ 16 }{ 4 }=\frac{ 12 }{ 3 }=\frac{ x }{ 5 }\]so you can solve for x in one of two ways\[\frac{ 16 }{ 4 }=\frac{ x }{ 5 }\]or you can solve this\[\frac{ 12 }{ 3 }=\frac{ x }{ 5 }\]either way you'll notice that\[\frac{ 16 }{ 4 }=\frac{ 12 }{ 3 }=4\]so it doesn't actually matter which one you use to solve for x

4 isn't the answer, you need to solve the equation\[4=\frac{ x }{ 5 }\]

\[x = 20\]
