And i thought this was going to be a diagonal line, it's a horizontal line, so just take the difference in the X-values, take the x-value at the point A, and subtract that from the x-value at the point B
geerky42 (geerky42):
So line segment AB simply goes from -5 to 4.
Can you figure out the length from -5 to 4?

Still unsure what to do?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Exactly.. ^^
jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):
Start at x = -5 on the number line
Then walk to x = 4 on the same number line
How many whole steps do you take?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
10 Steps?
jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):
For example, you take 2 whole steps to go from x = 3 to x = 5

10 is incorrect, but it's close
OpenStudy (anonymous):
9**
jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):
good
OpenStudy (anonymous):
So Its 9 Units?
jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):
if you don't want to draw, you can subtract to get the same thing
5 minus (-4) = 5 -(-4) = 5 + 4 = 9
