What is the exact distance from (-5,1) to (3,0)? Options A.square root of 69 units B. square root of 65 units C. square root of 63 units D. square root of 50 units

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The distance between two points is calculated as follows\[d=\sqrt{(X_2-X_1)^2+(Y_2-Y_1)^2}\]where you label one of your points as\[(X_1,Y_1)\]and the other point as\[(X_2,Y_2)\]and plug them into the formula

OpenStudy (anonymous):

here x1 = -5 and y1=1 and x2 =3 and y1=0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

check whether u get B. square root of 65 units

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Your answer is B if you feel lazy and dont feel like calculating what these gentleman just stated! :)

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

wolfram is the best for encouraging lazy ppl :P http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=What+is+the+exact+distance+from+%28-5%2C1%29+to+%283%2C0%29%3F

Omg Thank You All <3

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

Warning : Having initiated you to wolfram, leme say u one thing :) - In general its not a good idea to depend on anything primarily - we should know how to do the problem on our own, then verifying the answer with wolfram will be a healthy process. just dont cheat yourself by not even trying the problem.

Got It, Thank You Very Much xD
