mathematical induction
Use mathematical induction to prove the statement is true for all positive integers n, or show why it is false. 4 ⋅ 6 + 5 ⋅ 7 + 6 ⋅ 8 + ... + 4n( 4n + 2) = (4(4n+1)(8n+7))/6
is it true for the basis step?
whats a basis step? .-.
.... the first step in a mathematical induction proof of course. you may want to review your material.
you mean base? not basis.... and it would be false since 24 dosent=50
then youve shown that the conjecture is false ... whats left to do?
i have to show steps
then show why 24 doesnt equal 50 ...
okay... i have to show why and all i did was multiply and im pretty sure thats not what shes looking for so is there another smart peoples way of doing this?
let n=1, and show that its a false statement ... therefore it is not true for ALL positive integers. If you dont think that is sufficient, then youll have to ask whoever is grading it why it is not sufficient.
