How many edges does a triangular prism have? What formula can you use to help you find the # of edges of a prism

OpenStudy (anonymous):

There are 9 edges in a triangular prism. An edge in a solid is defined as the line joining two surfaces in the solid. There are 9 edges in a triangular prism. In a triangular prism, there are 5 faces, two triangular faces, and three rectangular faces joining consecutive sides of the two triangles.

Thank you both :)

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

btw you need to use `Euler formula` for this

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

\(V-E+F = 2\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\huge a = \frac{ A_l }{ h }.c.b\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What ganeshie gave is also correct it is the Euler formula

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks again @ganeshie8 :) Thank you Michio...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

b -Base side A(l) - Lateral surface area c-Base side h- height

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

interesting, what that formula does @Michio_kaku ? is that from topology ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh not this again. lmfao

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

lol ive never seen that formula before

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It is from euclidean geometry.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well , you may say its from topology

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

I'm not sure I understand what it does : lets take a triangular prism, b = 1 h=1 c=1 A(l) = 3 pluggin them in ur formula gives : a = 3

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

whats the interpretation for the value of "a" ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a is the Base side

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Which can also be termed as a edge

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

I'm bit lost on this >.<

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Never mind.

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

care to elaborate a bit more, or got any links explaining the formula ? :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I read this formula in a book , I don't have any website links
