Help :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Given the box plot, will the mean or the median provide a better description of the center? The mean, because the data distribution is symmetrical The median, because the data distribution is symmetrical The mean, because the data distribution is skewed to the right The median, because the data distribution is skewed to the right

OpenStudy (aric200):

Well the median is the middle number 13, 13, 13, 13, 14, 14, 16, 18, 21 of all numbers So I would say B The median, because the data distribution is symmetrical

OpenStudy (aric200):

Thhose are just example #s

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh ok Thank You! @aric200 :)

OpenStudy (aric200):

Maybe wait for someone else before going with my answer

OpenStudy (aric200):

Just to make sure ya know :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol

OpenStudy (aric200):

John are you writing an essay there bud

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

Haha i actually never ever started writing...perhaps accidentally hit the space bar... regardless, while it is true that the median is what we will use for the center...this data is not symmetrical...the max value over there will pull the data to the right making this data distribution skewed to the right. The answer we would want is Median because the data is skewed to the right

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

Imagine the box plot as a bar graph...it would look something like |dw:1401648025429:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok and lol john t happens to me all the time it says im typing then I just disappear from the question and Thank You All!

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

yeah lol it's like...hey...wtf! haha but no problem :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank You!

OpenStudy (aric200):

Oh I was way off haha :P
