Hey everyone, so for those who don't know me my name's Luis Quijano. Anyways let me cut to the chase of what I want to say and avoid all those cliché remarks people are probably going to say when they come up here and speak. We all know how this school year went and how fast it flew by and we all know how great it was and how much we had to go through to get here. So For that reason, I want to say congratz to all the seniors! Class of 2014!! You guys are awesome! If any of you don't care about the following speech that I'm about to say, there's always the two doors out in the back. Feel free to use them cause I honestly suggest you use them now. Besides that, if any of you guys get to the point to where you're about to die of boredom, you can always sprint to the emergency exits right there and there if you can't wait five minutes. [Point to them]. I'm so glad I came to this school in the first place starting in 8th grade. Like come on for goodness sake, my family got lost to a basketball game and out of nowhere we found this school! That's pretty cool. Then one week later, we visited & the next year we enrolled. Right when I started attending, the school was significantly different than the rest. You guys were for the most part so much more real and also cooler than the people in the other schools I was in. My old school was so immature & fake like omg you wouldn't even believe. Also, in this school I was developing greater friendships and gaining my personality and character. This is where I grew bonds I will never forget and I'm so thankful for that. Specifically, there are some people I would like to acknowledge. First of all I would like to talk about my besties Caitlin and Rayna. Like omg we were literally like the three musketeers! We have been best friends here for like 3 years and have done so many things together! We had our own lunch table ya know, and had so many experiences together... I will never ever forget you guys. When I visit you next year, Rayna, I'm definitely bringing some Panda Express, cuz that place is the bomb! and Caitlin, I wish you the best in the air force! You guys are going to do great things someday and I love you two besties! In addition, I'd like to talk about my brother Josean, otherwise known as JBreezy. Even though he was at times so annoying, just kidding haha, he was actually an amazing, fantastic, superb, awesome brother! I'm glad we've gone through so much together and I can't wait for you to get ready to move on to university because I see an unlimited amount of potential in you! I will always love you as an awesome little brother and I"ll always be there for you. If I started talking about you more, I'd probably start crying right now so it's best if I move on to the next topic. Besides that, I would like to acknowledge Mr. Cooper for coordinating all our senior activities and being an awesome senior class teacher for us. That typhoon lagoon trip was really awesome and I can't believe I even got tanner. I'm starting to get like that Puerto Rican tan it's crazy. In addition, I would like to mention Mr. Warren and Dr. Nadeau for being the best teachers that I have ever had. Your classroom discussions Dr. Nadeau always made us think and dive deeper into the books and Mr. Warren always brought history class to life! The last person I would like to acknowledge today is Dr. Harkema. You gave me the option to skip 7th grade and I took it not knowing where it would lead me. And I can't believe how far I've gotten since then. You also encouraged me as I took courses during the summers to skip my Junior year and get here while being 16 years old. I'm so thankful for everything you've done! Also, I want to give a shoutout to all my penpal besties! You guys are amazing too! Anyways, I have some important words I want to give out to the upcoming seniors and the underclassmen below them. You guys have an unlimited potential and I see amazing things happening in the future with you guys! Like for instance, let me talk about Krizia and Alex. You guys are phenomenal volleyball players and are going to go so far! Also, I have something to say for the people who are going to be here next year: Don't ever let anyone tell you you're never going to do anything in your life or you're not worth anything because you guys are all amazing and going to go places and to be honest, some of you need to set your ambitions and goals higher as a result. Moving on to another important topic, I have another important piece of information I want to share to you juniors. The way this school calculates valedictorian and stuff like that, they don't count honor classes or advanced classes. If you took them like I did, aw great for you, well it doesn't count. I didn't know this until this week! And had I known three years ago when I started taking virtual classes I would've done differently. What they use is an unweighted GPA. That means, the closer you are to 100 in a class, the better. So if someone takes an easier class than you and gets 99 while you get 95, you're a bit behind there! And I wish the school told me that's how they calculated it earlier but they didn't. All in all though, I have to say good luck to you all who have another week. Sounds like so much fun. And wish you all the best in moving on as seniors and hope you all enjoy the graduation and I'm glad to see that none of you died of boredom in my speech and had to sprint out an emergency exit!
