The Milky Way is the name of our spiral shape galaxy which consists of huge collections of 100 thousand million stars. The solar system is a small portion of our Milky way galaxy and consist of a huge star (sun) and planets orbiting around it. The center of the galaxy is really really hot, if our solar system is located in the center, the sun or any astronomical object may get swapped by the super-massive black hole. That's why our solar system is located close to the outer edge of the Milky way.
