According to the intersecting chord theorem http://1728.org/circpart.htm whenever 2 chords in a circle intersect the products of the segments are equal. So as you said: 7•4 = 5•Z However to solve for Z, divide both sides by 5 (7•4) / 5 = Z z = 28 / 5 z = 5.6
