Knowing that the Earth has a circumference of about 24,000 miles, how “fast” is someone standing on the equator traveling?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You know the circumference, and you know the time it takes for the Earth to complete one rotation. So, it looks like you have a distance and a time. You also know that speed is equal to distance divided by time.

\[\frac{ 24000 miles }{ 24 hours }=1000mph\]
