OpenStudy (daryan):

How much pure acid (100% acid solution) should be mixed with 6 gallons of a 50% acid solution in order to get an 80% acid solution?

OpenStudy (sweetburger):

so this is basically like an average problem you have a unit which is gallons so lets say 6X50= 400 now if you divide that by 6 you get 50 so we need to find how many gallons of 100%acid solution we need to add to 6 gallons to get 80% so ill work it out right here for you

OpenStudy (sweetburger):

50+50+50+50+50+50+100=400 divide this by 7 and you get 57 not the right amount of acid

OpenStudy (sweetburger):

btw edit to my first post i said 6X50 is 400 it is not actually 400 it is 300 it was a typo sorry

OpenStudy (sweetburger):

so lets try the next one

OpenStudy (sweetburger):

50+50+50+50+50+50+100+100= 62.5 this is also the wrong amount of acid solution

OpenStudy (sweetburger):

so the correct answer is 6 gallons of 50% acid and 9 gallons of 100% acid solution
