This is what it says to do. Write an essay in which you analyze two themes and their development over the course of a story from the readings. Choose a story with multiple themes. Summarize the story. Then identify at least two of its themes or central ideas. Describe whether the themes you have identified are directly stated or implied. If they are directly stated, indicate where in the text this occurs. If they are implicit, indicate the clues that contribute to the theme you inferred. These clues might take the form of lines of dialogue or characters’ reactions to events. Cite the most significant and relevant quotations from the story to support your analysis.
