myininaya (myininaya):

you are saying sqrt(36) is therefore 6 and 6 is 6/1 6 is an integer 1 is an integer Do you know what the definition of rational number is?

myininaya (myininaya):

I would like to know need's definition of rational number

myininaya (myininaya):

If you are going to say the answer, at least give an explanation of why you are saying it is that answer.

A rational number usually only has one number and not a whole bunch of number

Numbers*

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Any number that can be made by dividing one integer by another that is the defenition

myininaya (myininaya):

A rational number is any number that can be expressed as an integer divided by an integer.

myininaya (myininaya):

of course the bottom integer cannot be zero

myininaya (myininaya):

5/3 is a rational 6/7 is a rational 3/5 is a rational 7/6 is a rational 1 is a rational (ex, 1/1) 0 is a rational (ex, 0/1) -5 is a rational -1/5 is a rational sqrt(2) is not a rational

thanks

myininaya (myininaya):

also another example is .5525 because this can be expressed as 5525/10000 which is also an integer over an integer so .5525 is a rational also
