Linear equation word problem help!?
I don't know if I can help, but what is the question?
I have trouble extracting a linear equation from this problem: there is 5 liters of water in 90% concentration of ethyl alcohol. How much water do you need for 60% concentration of that alcohol? So basically x is the unknown amount of water
well 5 liters added to the concentration I mean^^
Sorry I'm a bit out of my depth on this one, I wish I could help you out but I just don't know what to do for this one.
the problem isn't in english so it was hard for me to translate :/ but google translate does this: How many liters of water should be added to 5 liters of 90% ethyl alcohol solution to obtain a 60% solution?
Just curious, is this a chemistry question?
No. it's a math question^^ I have to write a linear equation for this. Example, the father is 53, son is 17. When will the father be 3 times older than his son? -- 53 + x = (3(17+x)
Ok, I was thinking chemistry, I might be able to help. Give me a minute to work on it.
Alright! I'll wait.
I'm 90% sure the correct answer is: x+(90*5)=60(x+5) If that is incorrect answer, I am very sorry(it's been a while since I did this kind of problem last). I'm pretty sure it is correct though.
*is the incorrect answer
it's correct! thank you!!
