suppose u have a a paper box
and in that paper box u can put a lot of stuff
now u crash this paper box
how much stuff will fit into it as compared to the 'not crashed state' ?

RBC normally can transport 4 molecules of O2
now in sickle cell case the shape of RBC is all crashed-like i'd say

so now less O2 can be transported thats why a personwith sickle cell anemia has difficulty in breathing
