there is really only one tricky part to questions like this...and that is the wording. You have to pay close attention to the wording.

you want the lowest terms of oatmeal to total number of cookies in bag

oatmeal -- 8
total cookies in bag -- (8 + 10) = 18

8 to 18 can also be written as 8/18, which reduces to 4/9, which can be turned back to 4 to 9.

Thats it...your answer is 4 to 9
