At last year's company picnic, 25 pounds of ground beef were needed to make 100 hamburgers. How many pounds of ground beef will be needed this year if 120 hamburgers are to be made? A. 30 lb B. 45 lb C. 50 lb D. 55 lb

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well, divide 100 by 25. then, take 20 ( the amount extra from last year) and divide it by the answer. add that number onto 25 and you have your answer.

right

OpenStudy (evanhelps):

A. 30. By dividing 100 by 25 you realize that for every pound of ground beef you get 1 hamburger, in other words, 1/4 the number of burgers is the amount of ground beef. So what's 1/4 of 120? 30.
