Can someone help me with U.S. History?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If you give me a real question I can attempt to help. :)

44. Describe the experiences of immigrants to the united states in the late 1800s. Explain how immigrants contributed to the nation's growth during this period. (15 points) I have to write a several paragraph response. I'm not asking for someone to write out the answer, I just need some direction, I guess. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

Hmm, here's a few directions you could go...combine 1 and 2 and follow with 3 then 4 and you have a general direction of how you might organize your paper to transition smoothly. 1. The trip of immigrants. Back then there were no safety or health codes, hundreds were packed tight in ships for months (spreading sickness). 2. Why they came. Immigrants left different regions for different reasons, why did they decide to make the trip and what they did after. (This is the GROWTH OF THE NATION) -they came to farm (most like they did back at origins) -they came to WORK! (industrial revolution had boomed plants and need for wage workers) 3. Discrimination Even back then "real Americans" were getting upset at the jobs being taken and the sudden changes that immigrants brought with them, (their own languages, food, religions, and overall the neighborhoods that emerged in order to maintain these (Think NYC) 4. Shape of culture (cultural GROWTH) Like above, they brought with them new religions, languages, and culture that became a part of American culture. :)

Does that help?

Yes! Thank you so much!
