Ping is not studying a mammal and there is only one animal that isn't a mammal, so he must be studying the sailfish.
Then we look at Mandy, and she is studying something from the ocean. Because we know Ping is studying the sailfish, she must be studying the dolphin.
Then we only have the elephant and giraffe left,
the elephant is slower than the giraffe, so the elephant must be Alan's!
