A funnel is made up of a partial cone and a cylinder as shown in the figure. The maximum amount of liquid that can be in the funnel at any given time is 16.59375π cubic centimeters. Given this information, what is the volume of the partial cone that makes up the top part of the funnel? 15.75π cm3 17.25π cm3 16.33π cm3 12.5π cm3

where is the figure ?

a funnel

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, but we need a picture. We have no dimensions that would make this possible to solve.

There seems to be a typo in the question. It would make sense that the total volume of the funnel is 16.875 cc to find the volume of the "truncated cone" or "frustum", you then do 16.875- volume of small cylinder. you could also use the formula for the volume of a frustum. see http://www.mathinary.com/cone_frustum.jsp

thank you

So what was the answer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The dimnsions were 1.5 cm base 4cm height 6cm circumference I think also another 1.5 on the side of the base

OpenStudy (xcharlizea):

53 is the right answer
