Best answer gets a MEDAL! Help please! :) What is the difference between binary fission and conjugation?
Hello @B_O_R_E_D ! \(\Huge{\color{red}{\bigstar}\color{blue}{\bigstar}\color{green}{\bigstar}\color{yellow}{\bigstar}\color{orange}{\bigstar}\color{red}{\bigstar}\color{blue}{\bigstar}\color{green}{\bigstar}\color{yellow}{\bigstar}\color{orange}{\bigstar}\color{red}{\bigstar}\color{blue}{\bigstar}\color{green}{\bigstar}\color{yellow}{\bigstar}}\\\color{white}{.}\\\Huge\sf\color{blue}{~~~~Welcome~to~OpenStudy!~\ddot\smile}\\\color{white}{.}\\\\\Huge{\color{red}{\bigstar}\color{blue}{\bigstar}\color{green}{\bigstar}\color{yellow}{\bigstar}\color{orange}{\bigstar}\color{red}{\bigstar}\color{blue}{\bigstar}\color{green}{\bigstar}\color{yellow}{\bigstar}\color{orange}{\bigstar}\color{red}{\bigstar}\color{blue}{\bigstar}\color{green}{\bigstar}\color{yellow}{\bigstar}}\)
Bacterial conjugation is the transfer of genetic material between bacterial cells by direct cell-to-cell contact or by a bridge-like connection between two cells.
while fission occurs when a cell divides into two or more parts and the regeneration of those parts into separate cells.
u getting it ?
ummm I'm reading it now... one sec
Ok so conjunction is more like direct contact the cells like meet...but with fission it is more indirect? @Abhisar
in fission cell division takes place but in conjugation no cell division takes place
Oh I see, ok so then in fission new cells are being formed since they are dividing?
conjunction is like sending song from phone to other phone through Bluetooth lol
yes in fission new cells form, in BInary two new cells form. Look at this diagram it is for conjugation. Try to explain it to me
No its like through DATA CABLE @Somy LOL
so its not like Bluetooth?! lol
And the data cable used here is called as SEX PILLI
nooooo its Bluetooth!!!
lmao @Abhisar
No..nohing wireless happens here... :p... :p
*nothing
anyways @B_O_R_E_D u got the point ?
lol well yeah its just easier to remember if u compare things with daily life @Abhisar
u think data cable is not used in daily life...what about those who have Iphones...??? :P :D
@Somy
ok so for the conjunction image, the cells are meeting and like connecting and one cell passes on its info and DNA to the other cell...so now you basically have two cells with all the same DNA and they are the same???.....is that right? @Abhisar
and with binary fission its two new cells being formed...so bi meaning two?....right? @Abhisar
oh well yeah that makes sense lol @Abhisar
Yes..Bi means two and yes its correct what u said about conjugation
Yay! thank you! that makes more sense...could u answer a few more questions please?
But remember in conjugation only plasmid (extra chromosomal) DNA is passed or transfered
So the cell which receives the DNA (song :P ) is not exactly same as that one of donor. Because it already has its own DNA and now in addition to it, have the plasmid DNA
This is lill complicated but u can understand...u getting ?
um for the most part....so it is passing on its DNA but is not entirely the same...since it still has all its own genetic info....but its similar....but it is using a cell that is already like there...and not forming new cells, its just using cells that are already....umm like alive?
yes.. \(\huge\ddot\smile\)
awesome! thank you!!!!....can I ask you a few more?....if u dont mind
yeahhh..certainly i'll not mind !!
But post them as new questions
oh ok, I'll do that now!
can u go to the first question I asked...I never got an answer...idk if u can get to it.... @Abhisar
which was yesterday
reply its link
oh sorry here it is http://openstudy.com/study#/updates/538dd946e4b09550177c4e95
