How did World War I assist the women's suffrage movement in the United States? American women refused to serve in the armed forces unless they got the right to vote. The conflict allowed Americans to see that allowing women to vote was a positive step in Europe. Congress had focused solely on the conflict, allowing suffragists to get legislation passed. Women served valuable jobs during war efforts, breaking down resistance to suffrage.
