Segment BD is an altitude (height) of triangle ABC. Find the area of the triangle. Triangle ABC with altitude BD is shown. Point A is at 2, 1. Point B is at negative 1, 4. <-- use math notation, not words ... Point C is at 2, 6. Point D is at 2, 4. lets move it so A is at 0,0, subtract A from the rest all the points Point A is at 2, 1. -2 -1 0 0 Point B is at -1, 4. -2 -1 -3 3 Point C is at 2, 6. -2 -1 0 5 Point D is at 2, 4. -2 -1 0 3 point d is useless to us really, so .... height is from y=0 to y=3 width is from A to C from 0 to 5

OpenStudy (amistre64):

Area is 5*3/2 = 15/2

OpenStudy (amistre64):

plotting the out would have done the same effect ....

OpenStudy (carolina4567):

Thank you so much. I totally get it now. Thank you I really appreciate your help.

OpenStudy (amistre64):
