Solve for H!!! .5(16)^2 - (.25)(9.8)cos 45(H/sin 45) = 9.8H

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can't really read it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is that middle term on the left?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can you try re-typing?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

.5(16)^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you re-type the whole problem?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

.5(16)^2 - (.25)(9.8)cos 45(H/sin 45) = 9.8H

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i believe it becomes 128-1.73(H/sin45) = 9.8H

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then i need to simplify that. or my math may be wrong ]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i don't get what \( (.25)(9.8)cos 45(H/sin 45) \) means

OpenStudy (anonymous):

same @satellite73

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its just simplifying a physics equation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do i get from that bottom line in the picture to the final answer? whats the next step in simplifying that? i have to solve the same equation with different numbers (the ones i gave) so i need to know how to proceed algebraically.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cos45/sin45 = 1? so it becomes 1H in the equaiton?
