Starting Maxima and Minima of functions of one variable... can't understand what is \(\bf{Local Maxima}\) ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

There are actually a lot of maximas ans minmas in a graph of a function , There is a global maxima and there is a local maxima Which is the highest and lowest point in the graph (this is about global) But local max and min means maxima and minima in a very small interval on the graph
