GC-ECD or GC/MS? MRM's or single analyte residues? I need advice for method development I have yet to take analytical chem so I am in over my head. Where do you start? Instrumentation? Sample Clean up? My PI gives me a great deal of freedom in the lab...and I often end up in over my head...i'm not sure if that is a good or bad thing honestly.
Hai Sweet Friend, @sseebeck WelcoMe To OpeN studY !! >>Looks like it is related to some Designs. You should have posted it in Design Section for much more helpful suggestions as most of the creative friends visits it most and tag some Amby on it, for passing out your details of question to professionals. Well its experimental design not art or structural. :)
Hmm..to my view.. When analyzing residual pesticides in processed foods Using GC-MS/MS, the same analysis method for vegetables cannot be used due to the interference by a large quantity of substances co-extracted from the sample. In such cases, a different sample-preparation method must be considered to reduce the co-extracted substances. However, it is time consuming to develop a optimal sample-preparation method. This application datasheet presents a study of an analysis of residual pesticides in retort-packed curry using QuEChERS and GC-MS/MS. QuEChERS method is commonly used for vegetables due to its speed and simplicity. While GC-MS/MS is able to selectively separate residual pesticides from a large quantity of co-extracted substances. Does this help ?
Hmm, i understands, seems like my power is out... !, Well let me have a look, when power is back ! Have A Good Day !
what exactly do you need regarding GCMS
ECD ?
electron capture device (I think) one second and I will pull up a link

Wow, Mr. Modi is also, willing to help her, Incredible !
:) research is way more fun than homework!
@sseebeck I applaud that so where you need me to start from, select one, complete it, then we go to next...!
And thank you I did not expect to find this level of response in here honestly. I just thought it would be fun to check in while I plow through articles to see what others might suggest :)

I don't see a question here.
and my original question was where do you start with method design in general.
Do you know what GC Mass Spec is? I mean, even if you have not taken quant/analytical, you should of worked with this in organic - seeing as how you are doing research.
Organic compounds are the most popular used in GC mass spec. since I don;t think they are visible in the graph (halogens) and or other metals.
I am half way through the organic sequence. I work in an analytical lab and work with the GC daily but until now it has been completely guided.
I think you might be over thining this question, because the steps in an experiment are what you learned in elementary school: 1. Make observations. 2. Propose a hypothesis. 3. Design and perform an experiment to test the hypothesis. 4. Analyze your data
5. break the GC 6. cost the school $300,000
LOL, have A good Day !, Don't fall-back , carry on with research !
I won't thank you for your help :)
