count how many have two numbers that are the same btw they are called "dice" and rolling two of the same number is called "doubles" you are being asked for the probability you roll doubles on a pair of dice once you count that there are 6 doubles, double 1,2, 3, 4, 5, 6 divide that by \(36\) and get \[\frac{6}{36}=\frac{1}{6}\]
