Which mixture can be separated using filtration? Choose all answers that are correct. A. soluble solids in water B. solids of different sizes C. insoluble solids in water D. different colored liquids

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the only mixtures that can be seperated by filtration are ones which have an insoluble solute (solid) mixed with a solvent (liquid) like wood chips and water......styrofoam particles and water.....sand and water......cornflakes and water or milk......water and stones (pebbles)......etc others cannot be seperated using filtration method eg....salt and water....sugar and water.....water and alochol.....water and juice concentrate......and so on

So basically C and B are the correct answers. C because insoluble means that the substance can not dissolve into the liquid, so it can be filtered out. B because solids of different sizes would not be able to dissolve either
