OpenStudy (anonymous):

THANK YOU SO MUCH !!

OpenStudy (sweetburger):

mfw

OpenStudy (anonymous):

?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So I need help with obviously the whole thing but now i's just 2-a

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@marissalovescats could you tutor me? As in, since you want to be a math teacher maybe I"ll be your first student haha c: I"m really behindddd in math and I need someone to help me with it. As in, next school year. In 3 months.

OpenStudy (marissalovescats):

Yeah I can tutor you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank You! c: now im exited! c:

OpenStudy (marissalovescats):

So for this question 2-a The base of this is just a rectangle and that area is A=bh Our base is 4 and the height is 5 So what would the area of the base be?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do i add?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

or do the base is just the base on it's own.

OpenStudy (marissalovescats):

A=bh A=(4)(5)

OpenStudy (marissalovescats):

Yes it's just asking for the base (the square)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

20

OpenStudy (anonymous):

? right

OpenStudy (sweetburger):

@marissalovescats just on a role

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@sweetburger I don't understand this and that's why I'm here on Open Study. To get help. So please. :/

OpenStudy (sweetburger):

sorry i didn't mean to offend you

OpenStudy (sweetburger):

i can help out if you would like

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@marissalovescats is doing a good job at helping me... but thanks

OpenStudy (sweetburger):

alright @ilovchuu best of luck

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks

OpenStudy (marissalovescats):

So what is the Area of the base? A=(4)(5)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

20?

OpenStudy (marissalovescats):

Great job! Don't forget your units though, and area is always in units^2 so Area=20cm^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank You so much! new question :)

OpenStudy (marissalovescats):

2-b Find the Lateral Area. The Lateral Area is the perimeter of the base (which is a rectangle) times the height or the figure (the bigger rectangle which is 12)

OpenStudy (marissalovescats):

We can just stay on this one, I don't mind

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay c: 2-b

OpenStudy (anonymous):

are you sure you could get medals

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is lateral surface?

OpenStudy (marissalovescats):

Lateral Area is when you take a perimeter of the base and multiply it by the height of the figure.

OpenStudy (marissalovescats):

So we know that our base is a smaller rectangle and it gives us two sides of that 4 and 5. So what would the other two sides of it be?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4 and 5

OpenStudy (marissalovescats):

Awesome! So now we can find the Lateral Area

OpenStudy (marissalovescats):

|dw:1401947552013:dw|

OpenStudy (marissalovescats):

|dw:1401947623626:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank You!!!! now I got it :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how about the total surface area? That's the entire thing?

OpenStudy (marissalovescats):

Okay now the Surface area is the Lateral Area + 2 times the size of the figure (prism) |dw:1401947746269:dw|
