OpenStudy (jaydenthequiet):

What is the median of the data set? 23 19 13 11 17 19 A. 19 B. 12 C. 17 D. 18

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok So first you put them in order

OpenStudy (jaydenthequiet):

11, 13, 17, 19, 19, 23

OpenStudy (anonymous):

11 13 17 19 19 23 So it is 19

OpenStudy (jaydenthequiet):

thank you

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

uh'oh

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What? I got it wrong?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@beccaboo333

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

Sorry to interrupt, guys, but when the data set contains an even number of elements, the median is the average of the two middle numbers.... ^_^

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So it was wrong? :(

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

Unfortunately. Don't worry, 123.go, that's how we all learn ^_^

OpenStudy (beccaboo333):

Not to mention, you're supposed to have the user try to figure it out them self.. Not give them the answer. They could just take that answer and run away rather than learn how to really do it.

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

Okay... so, Jayden... care to rectify the answer? What's the median?

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

Oh, and it's usually not in my nature to be cheesy, but hey, methods that stick are better than no methods at all :D Watch, if you have the time: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oNdVynH6hcY

OpenStudy (jaydenthequiet):

18

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

Oh, you already got it huh... great ^_^
