How did Adam Smith and Robert Owen differ in their view of human nature? Smith believed that each nation had its own special character; Owen believed all nations were alike. Smith saw economics as the most powerful motivator in human life; Owen thought it was love of family. Smith believed that humans were naturally selfish; Owen believed humans were perfectible. Smith believed that social classes were biological in origin; Owen felt they stemmed from social forces.
