It is a thin glass fibre through which light can be transmitted. It is slightly thicker than human hair. The wire itself is flexible and it has a mirror coating on the inside. The light always reflect the the right direction. It is a superior form of network cable that brings faster speeds with no external interference.

 

It can be used as a medium for telecommunication and computer networking, to transmit power using a photovoltaic cell to convert the light into electricity, in remote sensing, etc.
