well, before going over vectors, you had to have taken a class in algebra that demonstrated how to find the distance between 2 points .... might want to use the distance formula on it

we can even move the points so that one of them is at the origin,  then the other is tells us the legs of a right triangle

 (2,1) and terminal point (-13,9)
-2-1                                       -2 -1
-----                                     ------
  0,0                                        -15,8 ,  so we want the hypotenuse of a 
                                                       rt triangle with legs of 15 and 8
