Jerome is a competitive football player. He practices five days a week and lifts weights three days a week. Unfortunately, he hurt his knee in the last game. The doctor says that he can continue to exercise but needs to stay off of it for eight weeks. What can Jerome do to maintain his level of fitness and follow the doctor's directions for keeping weight off the knee?

Jerome can continue a limited weightlifting program while he heals. He can substitute the running at practice with swimming in a knee brace. Jerome should sit out all practices and rest so the knee has the best chance to heal. Jerome should continue his weightlifting schedule and take up long distance bike riding to compensate for not being able to run. Jerome should start walking on the treadmill and swimming two hours a day.
