May someone please provide feedback? The image below shows two dilated figures with lines UV and WX drawn. If the larger figure is dilated using a scale factor of 4, what relationship do lines UV and WX have? Would this relationship hold true for all dilations?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Lines UV and WX would be parallel. I think it would hold true for all dilations.

And also there is this question. Square RSTU is shown below with a line AB drawn through its center. If the square is dilated using a scale factor of one over four and a line is drawn through the center of the new dilated figure, what relationship will that line have with line AB in the drawing below?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have no idea how to solve the second one.

@GotToLoveJenny Do you think that you can help?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@epoweritheta Would you be able to help me?

OpenStudy (epoweritheta):

See friends ,in the first question , u can the bigger rectangle is zoomed version of the smaller rectangle , now if |dw:1402020944925:dw| see those triangles drawn are similar , so yes the uv and wx also are in the ratio 4:1 . yes it will be true for all such dialations .
