eulers formula? there are many....
OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):
F+V-E = 2
OpenStudy (wheelchairgirl):
It is the F + V = E + 2 one
OpenStudy (campbell_st):
and if the solid... polyhedra has an octagonal base... and 8 triangles its an octagonal pyramid...
so will have 16 edges and 9 faces

OpenStudy (epoweritheta):
See Eulers formula is
2D -1D+0D=1
ie #faces -#edges +#vertices=1
OpenStudy (wheelchairgirl):
ok so i replace the numbers with mine?
OpenStudy (wheelchairgirl):
like..... 9 - E + V = 1?
OpenStudy (campbell_st):
well 9 faces, 16 edges
using F + V = E + 2
9 + V = 16 + 2
so
9 + V = 18
solve for V
OpenStudy (wheelchairgirl):
18 - 9 = 9
So V= 9?

thats it
OpenStudy (wheelchairgirl):
Thanks sooooo much!
OpenStudy (epoweritheta):
@campbell_st does euler formula differ for 2 dimensional and 3 dimensional cases ??
OpenStudy (campbell_st):
well in 2 dimensions you don't have faces... and the number of vertices is equal to the number of sides...
OpenStudy (epoweritheta):
ya ya i m sorry in 2 D we have
# loops - #edes +# nodes =1
